This is a plastic model kit and assembly is required.
This 1/700 scale ship model kit reproduces the Kagero-class destroyers Shiranui (second ship) and Akigumo (nineteenth ship), modeled on their appearance from the outbreak of the war through 1942. Parts are injection molded in a slightly bright gray that represents the Maizuru Naval Arsenal color.
Key features
- Accurate hull options: a separate mold reproduces the wartime hull with closed portholes, supplied as dedicated parts
- Authentic armament and fittings: no additional machine gun mount forward of the bridge; a dedicated linoleum deck part is included for an accurate deck finish
- Correct gun configuration: the 25 mm guns near the funnel are represented as twin mounts, before later replacement with triple mounts
- Rear deck detail: the stern depth charge deck is reproduced in its pre wartime modification configuration using dedicated parts
- Period accurate masts: fore and aft masts are supplied without radar to reflect the era before radar development
- High precision stickers: pre cut stickers allow accurate color separation without painting; includes gun barrel covers, lifebuoys, and cutter interiors
- Decal sheet for painters: one decal sheet supplies details such as the linoleum deck aft of the bridge and lifebuoys for users who prefer painting
- Photo etched parts for fine detail: two full sets of photo etch parts reproduce delicate details difficult to achieve with injection molding, including handrails, gangways, lifebuoys, funnel tops, boat davits, skid beams, and flag poles
