Yuseki Miki (, born 1966 in Kokura, Kitakyushu) began oil painting in junior high. After entering high school he studied under Kakyu Yamaguchi and shifted to calligraphy. After graduating university he expanded into design, creating brush-lettering for packaging, sake labels, CD jackets, posters, and more. He now explores the role of calligraphy not only in traditional Japanese spaces but also in everyday Western-style spaces. Free from conventional calligraphy, he works with a clear, contemporary style driven by free ideas.
