The Reimei class is the largest patrol vessel of the Japan Coast Guard, developed from the Akitsushima class and designed to carry one helicopter. Built to strengthen territorial sea security, this class supports long term operations across vast maritime areas. The lead ship Reimei entered service in February 2020 and is assigned to the Kagoshima Coast Guard Office.
