Explore the Origins of Post-War American Military Tanks

About the Real Vehicle:
The T42 is a new medium tank that began development in 1949 after World War II. During the Korean War in 1950, the need for new tank development accelerated, leading to modifications that mounted the T42 turret onto the M46 tank body. This was formalized as the M47 in 1951, and mass production began. The tank featured a Continental 810-horsepower four-stroke V12 air-cooled gasoline engine, and the main weapon was a 50-caliber 90mm rifle gun M36. Although unit deployment began in 1952, it did not make it to the Korean War. However, more than 8000 units were produced. While the successor M48 began production in 1952, leading to the short service life of the M47 in the U.S. military, it remained active in NATO countries, South Korea, and Taiwan.

About the Model:
This is a plastic model assembly kit that recreates the post-World War II American medium tank, the M47 Patton, deployed from 1952. The scale is 1/35, with a finished length of 242mm. The distinctive shape of the turret is accurately modeled. Details like hatches, rails, hooks, and antennas are finely replicated with separate parts. The commander's hatch can be opened and closed even after completion. Two types of muzzle brakes for the main gun, a T-type and a cylindrical type, are available for selection. The hull is a single molded part, with each suspension arm and shock absorber as separate parts for a three-dimensional finish. The belt type is used for the easy assembly of the tracks. Fine details, such as the engine deck hatch, enhance the finished product's realism. Markings for six countries, including the United States, Italy, West Germany, and Greece, are provided. This is an essential kit for the history of American tanks.
