About the Real Vehicle
- Developed by the German forces in 1943, the Sd.Kfz.140 Gepard anti-aircraft tank utilized the chassis of the Czech 38(t) tank and featured an open-top combat compartment. Originally equipped with a 7.5cm anti-tank gun, the Pak40, which was mounted as the Marder III M model, it was later replaced by a 2cm anti-aircraft gun, the Flak38. The engine was repositioned to the center of the chassis, and the vehicle's rear was extended to accommodate a larger combat room, a defining characteristic of this design. Production started in 1943, and the vehicle was assigned to various armored divisions to counter enemy fighter aircraft and fighter-bombers. An estimated 140 units were built before production ended in 1944.
