The biggest Pokémon TCG set of the year arrives! Introducing Shiny Star V!

The most anticipated expansion of the Pokémon TCG era is upon us. A high-class set like no other, and ready to quite possibly be the greatest expansion Sword and Shield will see. Introducing S4a – Shiny Star V!

So, what is all the fuss about this ‘high-class’ set? Well we’re glad you asked. Shiny Star V features 190 cards, and a further 127+ secret cards, making it the largest set ever to be released in the Pokémon TCG. S4a also features packs containing ten cards, rather than the regular five, and each pack guarantees one V or VMAX card.

Want more? Shiny Star V does not just offer an entire host of “shiny” Pokémon, but there’s also reverse-holo “shatter foil” of each card, alternate art Supporters, and Amazing Rare cards are back too! High-class indeed.

Don’t forget, this set releases on November 20.

Let’s dive into the shiny Pokémon! Now as you can imagine, 127+ secret shiny cards are a lot to cover, so here’s a slice of what you can expect.

Some of the best V and VMAX cards from across the Sword and Shield expansions return in Shiny Star V, but that’s just the tip of the Avalugg of what you can find, with the big ones for sure being Charizard V and Charizard VMAX.

The shiny Charizard V was released in English last month, alongside an English version of the Japanese trophy card, Charizard VMAX Hyper Rare. These pale in comparison however, to the mighty shiny Charizard VMAX making its debut right here in Shiny Star V. It’s certainly going to be the Shiny Star of the show, and one of the most sought-after cards from this, or any set!

The shiny treatment is not just limited to V and VMAX cards either, as there are plenty of regular Pokémon, including Rillaboom, Cinderace, and Inteleon to sink your teeth in to. As you can imagine, with 127+ of these cards, there’s so much to discover… even shiny Snom.

On top of all that, we’re extremely pleased to see the return of Amazing Rare cards! Having previously featured in just Legendary Heartbeat, it was not clear whether they were going to be exclusive to just that set. We’re excited to see Reshiram, Kyogre, and Yveltal already revealed for the new Amazing Rare line-up. Phew!

Now moving on to the Trainer cards! You can probably guess that with a set like S4a, these will be just as exciting. The Items featured in the set are some of the most popular and playable to date, with the likes of Quick Ball, Hyper Potion and Tool Scrapper all returning, along with the brand new Rusted Sword and Rusted Shield , ready to power up your Zacian V and Zamazenta V respectively.

There will also be the inclusion of various Stadium cards and Special Energy cards, but Shiny Star V gives us a real treat when it comes to the Full Art Supporters!

There’s a huge list of brand-new Supporters, along with some amazing alternate art! A fan favourite, Skyla, returns in Full Art (SR) fashion and is joined by an alternate art Full Art card for Marnie, Piers and even Chairman Rose! These cards look incredible and are a brilliant addition to an already packed set. There’s even space for Ball Guy and Birdkeeper Full Art cards… and much, much more!

As you may already be able to tell, Shiny Star V is certainly something special, and it really is a set that comes along once in an era. It features so much, with so many possibilities and different cards to find. Let’s face it, it’ll be an absolute joy to open. What wonders await in your box?
