If you have ever admired some fun, well-made, high-quality, and even whimsical toy merchandise for just about any fandom, chances are you have landed on a Takara Tomy creation. They originated as two separate companies: Takara Co., Ltd. was established in 1955, while “Tomiyama Toy Manufacturing Company,” named after founder Tomiyama Eiichirō, was founded in 1924. In 2006, they combined forces to form “Takara Tomy,” while remaining headquartered in Tokyo. Their ongoing legacy of quality Japanese toys includes Licca Doll, Tomix trains, and Japan’s very first Transformers toys; today, it’s also just as celebrated for incredible, statement-making anime merchandise, including Pokémon!
