The 500 Series is a train developed independently by JR West for the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines. Renowned for its sleek and sharp aircraft-like design, it reached an impressive speed of 300 km/h, making it the fastest in the world at the time. While it ceased its service as the Nozomi on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines in 2010, it currently operates as the Kodama, stopping at each station on the Sanyo Shinkansen.
