Description

- Reproduces C57 1 as it appeared after the debut of the 35 Series 4000 passenger cars, when it was used to haul the SL Yamaguchi from September 2017 onward and the SL Kita-Biwako during the summer and autumn of 2018.
- Faithfully reproduces the distinctive appearance of C57 1, including features dating from its regular service days, such as the extended cab roof, cab window deflectors, and the tender-mounted supplementary heavy-oil firing system. Details characteristic of the locomotive following its restoration to service are also reproduced, including the smokestack with rotary spark arrestor, the enlarged ATS generator fitted from the 2017 operating season onward, the additional emergency battery, and the sealed-beam headlight.
- The body is finished in the same subdued matte black as D51 200.
- Gold-colored detailing is reproduced on various bands, the smoke deflectors, inspection window surrounds, cylinder edges, and other areas.
- The smokebox door handrail, front handrails on the smoke deflectors, boiler handrails, and check valve are finished in silver.
- Equipped with a coreless-motor drive unit and flywheel for smooth and stable operation.
- Operating headlight with a warm-white LED. (Tender light does not illuminate.)
- By replacing the standard coupler with the included double-heading coupler, the locomotive can be operated double-headed with D51 200.
- The builder's plate reading "Kawasaki Sharyo", along with conversion, inspection, and safety-equipment markings, are pre-printed on the body.
- Selectable number plates are included, allowing "C57 1" to be displayed with either a black or red background.
- Includes the essential "Yamaguchi" headmark for recreating the locomotive hauling the SL Yamaguchi, as well as the autumn-version "SL Kita-Biwako" headmark. Combined with 10-1820 12 Series Passenger Cars, JR West Version, the model can also recreate SL Kita-Biwako No. 1 (Maibara → Kinomoto) as it appeared during the summer and autumn of 2018.
