The EF510 type 300 series is an AC / DC electric locomotive that appeared for the purpose of replacing the ED76 / EF81 type operating in Kyushu.
The conventional 0/500 series, which used to run a lot in the DC section, was equipped with a dynamic brake, but the 300 series is equipped with an AC regenerative brake because it mainly runs in the AC section.
The paint color is based on the silver color inherited from the 300th generation of the EF81 type, with a dark blue and red belt at the bottom of the car body, and the side of the car body inheriting the nickname "ECO-POWER Red Thunder" of the conventional EF510 type. The logo is placed on.
The first mass-produced vehicle, Unit 301, appeared in December 2021 and is undergoing running tests with the aim of starting operation around March 2023.
