The EF58 was an electric locomotive that played a prominent role hauling passenger trains on major trunk lines after the war, notable for its streamlined body style. Unit 61, built together with Unit 60 for hauling imperial trains, also hauled regular and special passenger services. It continued in service after the privatization of Japanese National Railways and was retired in 2008.
