The EF58 was an electric locomotive that played an active role pulling passenger trains on major trunk lines after the war, notable for its streamlined body style. Among the locomotives based at Miyahara Depot, the group with small front windows retained their neat original appearance for many years and were especially popular with railway enthusiasts. Unit 127, along with units 126 and 150, was based at Miyahara Depot from manufacture until decommissioning. Even after regular service ended, Unit 127 continued to operate until 1985 for fluctuating demand transport, including SURO 81 cars.
