The Wam 23000 type was a covered freight car introduced in 1938 and manufactured until 1954, with a pause during the war. After the introduction of the WAM90000 series in 1954, which featured a two-stage link suspension system, many of these freight cars were modified to the two-stage link system and reclassified into the same series. However, some remained with a single-stage link system even after the 1968 timetable revision.
