The 185 series 0-series is a limited express train introduced in 1981 to replace the 153 series on express and local services to the Izu area. For about six months after introduction it ran on the Izu express service alongside the 153 series. After the Izu express was upgraded and renamed Odoriko, the 185 series primarily operated on the Odoriko route. The fleet was renovated in the late 1990s with features such as reclining seats and remained in service until 2021.
