Overview

The 227 series 500 "Kizashi" is a new DC electric train developed for the Yamaguchi region and operated by JR West. It entered service in June 2026 and mainly runs on the Sanyo Line between Iwakuni and Shimonoseki. As of July 2026, six 3-car sets and three 2-car sets are in operation.
