The KIHA 82 series was a limited express diesel railcar introduced in 1961 to establish a nationwide limited express network. Its front design, created for easy coupling and separation, featured panoramic windows and light housings that gave it an elegant appearance. Nicknamed "Queen," the KIHA 82 operated mainly on non-electrified lines across Japan except for Shikoku and played a spectacular role in rail history.
