The KIHA 261 series 1000 series is a limited express diesel railcar operated by JR Hokkaido.
From the 6th batch onwards, the trains debuted with a white paint scheme featuring purple and gray stripes.
The intermediate car KIHA 260-1200 series forms a unit with the lead car KIHA 261-1200 series and has a small service window on one side of the car end. The KIHA 260-1300 series does not have this small window and can be added as a single car.
