In July 2010, Narita Sky Access opened as a new route connecting the city center and Narita Airport, and the AE series for Skyliner started operation as an airport limited express that goes through the same line.
This format operates at the highest speed in Japan at 160km / h except for the Shinkansen, and connects Nippori and Airport Terminal 2 in a minimum of 36 minutes.
In July 2020, in commemoration of the 10th anniversary of the opening of Narita Sky Access, a commemorative wrapping was given by Mr. Kansai Yamamoto who worked on the AE type vehicle design for the AE3 formation.
The commemorative wrapping expresses the "checkered pattern", which is a typical Japanese motif, flying around the world with the "wind".
