The KIHA 47 Series JR Shikoku Tokushima Depot High-Grade Model
The KIHA 47 series 0 series trains were primarily designed for warmer climates in western Japan and feature two-stage sliding unit windows. JR Shikoku inherited 19 KIHA 47 series 0 cars and 13 KIHA 47 series 1000 cars from Japanese National Railways, and in 1988 all KIHA 40 series cars were modified to include air conditioning. KIHA 47 trains 114 and 1086, belonging to the Tokushima Depot, were repainted in the Tokyo metropolitan area livery around 2008 and remain in service today.
