The E26 series began operating in 1999 on the luxury sleeper train Cassiopeia that ran between Ueno and Sapporo. It was in service mainly in the JR East area for many years and ceased operation on June 30, 2025.
This highly detailed model is a complete replica of the train used on the final Cassiopeia operation on June 29–30, 2025, during the Cassiopeia 25th Anniversary Commemorative Tour.
