Heisei Chikuhō Railway is a third sector railway company in Fukuoka Prefecture that took over the former Japanese National Railways Ida Line, Itoda Line, and Tagawa Line. The 400 series trains were introduced in 2007 to replace older trains such as the 300 series. The included railway bridge is modeled after the Second Imagawa Bridge.
