The GV-E400 series is a diesel car that started operation in 2019 to replace conventional vehicles such as the KIHA 40 series.
In the same system, an electric type was adopted in which the generator is driven by a diesel engine and the motor is driven by the electricity generated by the generator.
The similar system introduced in the Niigata area is "Niigata color" with yellow, pink, and red dots arranged on the line, and it is active on each line of the Uetsu main line, Shin-Etsu main line, Yonesaka line, and Ban-Etsusai line in the Niigata area.
