Series 215 is a suburban train that appeared in 1993.
All vehicles except the leading car are double-decker in order to increase the seating capacity and provide seating services.
The car body is based on the 211 series Salo 212/213 type, and each of the two ends of the formation is a motor car. In addition, the middle two cars are green cars.
Four 10-car trains were introduced and played an active part in the "Shonan Liner" and "Good Morning Liner" on the Tokaido Line, and the "Holiday Rapid View Yamanashi" on the Chuo Line.
