About the real car

The Ford Escort was developed and sold by Ford of Europe. Since its debut as the Mk.I in 1967, the Escort actively participated in motorsports such as rallying and touring car racing and became very popular with motorsport fans.

The Mk.II, introduced in 1975, featured a more angular body design and was offered in 2 door, 4 door, and wagon versions with a wide range of engines.

The high performance RS1800 model a Cosworth BDA engine. The inline 4 cylinder engine displaced 1800 cc and featured a twin cam 16 valve head.

The RS1800 proved its capability in motorsport, winning the final round of the World Rally Championship, the RAC Rally, in 1975 and achieving five consecutive RAC Rally victories through 1979. The car won five events in 1979 to claim the annual title and remained active in rally competition into the 1980s.
