Historical overview
- Chokai served as the fourth ship of the Takao-class heavy cruisers. She fought in early southern campaigns and the First Battle of the Solomon Sea, and was critically damaged by U.S. carrier aircraft during the Battle of Leyte Gulf in 1944, after which she was scuttled.
