1/700 Waterline Series return of the Royal Navy aircraft carrier Hermes.

The Royal Navy aircraft carrier Hermes was one of the early purpose-built operational aircraft carriers. Laid down in 1918, launched in 1919 and commissioned in 1924, Hermes was a compact carrier of about 10,000 tons displacement. Despite its relatively small size, it contributed significantly to the development of carrier aviation and operated in the Mediterranean and the Far East. Hermes escorted convoys and conducted patrols in the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. In April 1942 during operations in the Indian Ocean, Hermes was sunk after air attacks by Japanese carrier aircraft. Hermes is regarded as a pioneering ship in the evolution of aircraft carrier design, influencing later carrier construction and operational practices.
