E233-1000 series introduced to the Urawa Depot (now Saitama Rolling Stock Center) in 2007 as a replacement for the 209 series on the Keihin-Tohoku and Negishi lines. Compared with the 0 series, main differences include the front stripe and destination display position, and the cutout for the platform detection device at the cab end. Minor changes include roof radio antenna and pantograph piping layout changes, addition of D-ATC equipment, and relocation of auxiliary equipment to match other formations in the same depot. From 2023, antenna installations for the wireless train control system ATACS and updates to running equipment were carried out to prepare for future one-man operation.

- Compatible with other metropolitan area models such as 10-1468S to 10-1470 E235 Yamanote Line and 10-1267S to 10-1270S E233-3000 series for the Tokaido Line and Ueno-Tokyo Line for realistic mixed consists and layout operation.
