KIHA110 series diesel multiple unit introduced by JR East in 1991 as a general-purpose DMU. It is characterized by a light, agile style and distinctive color schemes that differ from earlier DMUs. At the time it adopted new high-output engines and updated drivetrain systems that contributed to increased speed. Variants were produced to match operating lines and are divided by number groups. Among them, the 200 series is notable for sliding side passenger doors and lower step heights. These units have mainly operated on the Hachiko Line and at Niitsu, Sendai, and Koriyama depots.
Compatible with a minimum radius of R370, allowing easy operation in compact layouts.

Option parts and model features
- Faithful reproduction of the third production batch built in 1996. Overall length 20.5 m, with rain gutters extended to the crew door, representing a vehicle assigned to Takasaki Rolling Stock Center, Takasaki depot.
- Handrails and windshield wipers are represented as integrated molded details on the body and front windshield.
- Vehicle numbers and other body markings are preprinted. Front destination display is preprinted. Side destination signs and destination label stickers are included.
- Lettering sheet included for changing vehicle numbers and depot markings.
- Roof-mounted equipment is preinstalled.
- Head and tail lights and front display illuminate, with an on/off switch. Light units use warm white LEDs.
- Telescopic tight-lock style couplers are used. Draft gear with electrical connector detail is included.
