Kato 10-1853 Series 211-3000 Takasaki Line / Tohoku Main Line 5 Cars Set (N scale)

This is an N gauge model of the 211 series that operated from Ueno, handling mid distance services on the Takasaki Line and Tohoku Main Line (Utsunomiya Line). The cold region 211 series was numbered with a +1000 suffix compared to the Tokyo area 211 0 and 2000 series. The semi cross seat versions were classed as the 1000 series, and the long seat versions as the 3000 series, introduced in 1985. Features for cold regions include snow resistant brakes, semi automatic doors, snow plows, and a motor car layout using KUMOHA 211 and MOHA 210 units that suited later short train formations. Until around 2005 these trains ran as 10 to 15 car formations by coupling two or three single class five car sets. After the 2004 withdrawal of the 115 series, Green cars from the Tokyo side were reused, producing unique formations with the basic set arranged as 3 cars + 2 Green cars + 5 cars, placing Green cars near the cab.

- After replacement with PS33 single arm pantographs, the C8 formation can be fitted with either the original obstacle deflector or the reinforced obstacle deflector, allowing modeling of different eras.

- 5 car Basic Set (C8 formation cars 6 to 10): reproduces the long seat 3000 series (first batch delivered in 1985).

  - Recreates a leading car with a large headlight and smaller tail light frame shape, end sills with bead and band details, and main resistor MR161A arranged as 3 + 3 banks.

- All leading cars come fitted with the original obstacle deflector. 

- Head and tail lights and front destination display are illuminated. Includes an on off switch. Uses white LEDs for the destination display and warm white for headlights.

- Smooth and quiet running achieved with a slotless motor. 

- Body mounted close couplers used at both cab and intermediate ends (no hook). Includes one step electric connector and a dummy coupler body for uncoupled appearance.

- Lead bogies come fitted with snow plows.

- Front displays and service number are factory set to Local / 875M. Included replacement plates: Rapid, Commuter Rapid, blank, plus 3553M, 3949M, and blank.

- Destination decal sheet included.
