KIHA58 series 8th-batch reproduction with panoramic front windows and obstacle deflector, originally built in 1967–1968. The KIHA58 and KIHA28 8th-batch are defined by panoramic front windows wrapping to the sides and a front obstacle deflector. The KIRO28, the final reinforcement group built in 1968, uses the same body cross-section as KIHA65 and has a lowered rain gutter position, making its appearance notably different from earlier KIRO28 cars. These trains were widely used across many regions throughout the JNR era and after the JR transition.
