Kato 7010-5 DD54 Initial Type (N scale)

Kato 7010-5 DD54 Initial Type is an N scale diesel locomotive model fitted with Kato’s slotless motor specification. The DD54 was a distinctive high-output diesel locomotive derived from the prototype DD91 and built from 1966 for secondary mainline service. Assigned mainly to Fukuchiyama and Yonago, it worked passenger, baggage, and freight services on routes such as the Sanin Main Line, Fukuchiyama Line, Bantan Line, and Hakubi Line.
This initial type model represents the first-production group around 1971, including the additional inner front handrails, extended exhaust duct, side steam-generator louvers, folded-style release lever ends, outside steps, steeply slanted front windows, and armor-plate-style side louvers. It is suitable for recreating classic JNR non-electrified mainline scenes.
