Warm in tone and very popular on books and postcards, the work of Miki Yuseki conveys a gentle atmosphere under the theme: "Take it easy, go slowly, and be natural."
Miki Yuseki (, pronounced Miki Yūseki) was born in 1966 in Kokura, Kitakyushu. He began oil painting in junior high school. After entering high school he studied under Mr. Yamaguchi () and shifted to calligraphy. After graduating from university he expanded into the field of design, creating brush-lettering for packaging, CD jackets, sake labels, posters, and more. He now explores the role of calligraphy not only in traditional Japanese spaces but also in everyday Western-style environments, focusing on accessible modern calligraphy created with free, unconstrained ideas.
