Product description:
This detailed 1/72 scale kit recreates the Japanese K11W Shiragiku, a shipboard work training aircraft developed and manufactured by Kyushu Aircraft. The kit features finely detailed parts including a 3D printed Tenpu Type 21 nine-cylinder radial engine, multiple canopy and landing gear options, paint masks, and four decal choices to represent different service examples. The new tool molding ensures crisp panel lines and accurate shaping for a realistic finished model.

Historical background:
The K11W Shiragiku was developed by Kyushu Aircraft as the successor to the Type 90 onboard work trainer after a 1941 development directive to Watanabe Iron Works, later Kyushu Aircraft. The first prototype was completed in 1942. Mass production began in 1943 with the K11W1, followed by the K11W2 variant. Both versions were officially adopted in 1944. Known for good stability, handling, and a spacious cabin, the Shiragiku served not only as a shipboard work trainer but also in short range transport, liaison, and anti-submarine patrol roles. In 1945 some aircraft were pressed into special attack operations during the Okinawa campaign. A total of 798 airframes were produced; more than 370 remained at the end of the war, and some were later used for Green Cross flights.
